FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT BATEMAN CHIROPRACTIC

Chiropractic care is safe, effective, and generally free of side effects. This has been proven by many research studies over the years.

Chiropractic adjustments are safe because only appropriately educated professionals can register as Chiropractors in the UK.

Robert Bateman has been registered ever since he graduated in 1996.

The treatment delivered at Bateman Chiropractic is made even safer because every patient has their own treatment plan specifically taking into account their age, health, injury etc..

Chiropractic is “A health care profession focused on the diagnosis and treatment of neuromuscular disorders, with an emphasis on treatment through manual adjustment and/or manipulation of the spine”

Chiropractors do much more than this using a holistic approach to restoring better movement to the joints of the spine and the extremities to promote function, improve pain levels and increase well being.

Chiropractors are highly trained healthcare professionals that have to complete intensive long accredited training to become a registered Chiropractor in the UK. They also have to complete continuing professional development every year in order to remain registered in the UK.

Robert Bateman BSc DC DCHA graduated from the Anglo European College of Chiropractic in 1996 and has been in full time clinic ever since helping thousands of people out of pain in this time.

The number of sessions required to correct an injury is variable from patient to patient. This depends on the length of time the injury has been present, the severity of the injury, the patients age and health and other factors.

At Bateman Chiropractic we strive to get patients better as quickly as possible.

Your own personal treatment package will be based around these factors and will be discussed with you at the beginning of your treatment.

Typically the treatments are more frequent at the start of the treatment to improve movement and spinal function helping to relieve pain and aching. A typical case may need treatment twice a week for the first week or two. As the injury responds and stabilises the treatments become less frequent.

Bateman Chiropractic also provides posture and lifestyle transformation packages to help patients stay better long term with the help of other health professionals. Details of these packages can be found at (page link on website)

Many studies have been done over recent years about the effectiveness and techniques of Chiropractic. There is a huge amount of evidence proving the effectiveness of Chiropractic treatment in a number of injuries and complaints.

These include neck pain, all types of lower back pain, headaches originating from the neck as well as migraines and problems with the joints of the arms and legs including the shoulders and hips.

Chiropractic is a scientifically based treatment protocol that has been recommended by N.I.C.E for the treatment of neck and back pain.

There is gas dissolved in the fluid that is inside the joint. A small bubble can form in the joint when the joint surfaces are separated quickly such as during a Chiropractic adjustment. The cracking sound is the bubble popping. It sounds loud but is perfectly normal and painless.

This is one of the most asked questions.

The biggest difference is that Chiropractors are trained to take and read X-rays and Osteopaths are not.

Chiropractic concentrates on restoring normal joint function to allow the muscles and ligaments to relax and start to function correctly with or without other soft tissue techniques. Whereas Osteopaths prefer to concentrate on the soft tissue symptoms first and joint function second.

There is, however, a lot of similarities between the two professions because Chiropractors and Osteopaths are the only professions that use manipulation to correct joint function.

Some tenderness can occur after having Chiropractic treatment. This is short lived and a normal result of stretching the affected joints. Not every patient experiences it. The chance of reactive symptoms decreases as the treatment progresses and function improves.

Every patient is carefully questioned and examined before any treatment is given to ensure that the right treatment is provided to minimise the chances of any reaction after treatment.

The other side effects of Chiropractic treatment is less pain, more movement, increased flexibility and improved strength.

This depends on what your chiropractor finds during the consultation and examination, and only if clinically necessary. They are an important diagnostic tool.
My experience was just as expected. My treatment was carried out in an expert way with dignity, care and consideration in a friendly atmosphere.
